DELPHI – ITEA - GALAXIDI
Delphi, the site of the famous Oracle of Apollo, is located at the slopes of Mount Parnassos, near the town of Amfissa. There you will enjoy a truly magnificent landscape where ancient Greeks chose to build their most important sanctuary, the Apollo Temple, as well as the Museum with valuable archaeological findings. Still an awe-inspiring location for both Greeks and Europeans, Delphi is a headquarters for international meetings, architectural, archaeological cultural symposia, Congress of Ancient Drama held under the auspices of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi.
Itea is a small village by the seaside in Itea Bay, the port for Amfissa and Delphi Located to the South of the prefecture of Fokida, it has a lot of picturesque tavernas and restaurants that offer visitors exquisite sea and other food.
Driving to the west of Itea, you will find Galaxidi, a town that was built by maritime families and has managed to keep until today its traditional identity. Galaxidi was one of the major commercial ports of Greece during the 18th century. The ships of Galaxidi used to transport merchandise from Central Greece to Italy, Spain and even the shores of Africa. Walking in the small stone-paved streets of Galaxidi, you will feel like wondering in older times. The renovated mansions, the courtyards full of flowers, the balconies, the decorated windows with their white little curtains create the atmosphere of a 19th century town.
